ASSAULT WITH BASEBALL BAT Early this morning city police were called to The Blue Boy Restaurant on Wellington Street West after an employee was assaulted. Police arrested 24-year-old Jason Corbiere of 62 Wellington Street West.

Early this morning city police were called to The Blue Boy Restaurant on Wellington Street West after an employee was assaulted.

Police arrested 24-year-old Jason Corbiere of 62 Wellington Street West.

Shortly after midnight, the accused was turned away from the restaurant and refused entry since he was intoxicated. Corbiere became upset and allegedly threatened to return.

At 12:45 am the accused returned to the business with 2 other males and struck the employee with a baseball bat. A fight ensued in which the employee was then assault by the accused and 2 of his male friends.

The employee was punched and kicked several times in the head and was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Corbiere was on probation at the time with terms to keep the peace. He has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in court on November 8th.

City Police are continuing their investigation and it is anticipated that further arrests will be made in relation to the other males involved in the incident.

ARMED ROBBERY
City Police are investigating a robbery that took place last night shortly after 8 pm. A lone male entered Muio’s Confectionary Store on Queen Street East and demanded cash from the clerk in the store.

The male had a butcher knife in his hand and had concealed his face with a sweater. The suspect made off with a small-undisclosed amount of money.

He is described as a being in his mid 20’s, 5’10” tall, slim to medium build, had broad shoulders, and was wearing a navy blue v-neck style sweater with baggy white pants

CONTACTED EX-GIRLFRIEND
A 49-year-old male was arrested by city police officers shortly before 10:00 last night on an outstanding arrest warrant. On the 20th of September the accused went to his ex-girlfriends place while on a release document advising he was not to be within 200 meters of her address.

Officers were unable to locate him on that date and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Last night officers arrested him for one count of breach of a release document and he will appear in bail court this morning.
