POLICE BREAK UP FAMILY DISPUTE
Yesterday morning city police were called to an address in the City’s east end for a family dispute call.

It is alleged that a 27-year-old male assaulted a female family member by punching and kicking her after knocking her to the ground.

When a second female family member intervened, that female was pushed away. The first victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries.

The male has been charged with 2 counts of assault and will appear in court on October 25th. His name is not being released as it could identity the victims in this matter.


TWO TURN THEMSELVES IN TO POLICE
Yesterday morning, 48-year-old Sauro Greganti of 2345 Base Line turned himself into city police. Mr. Greganti was wanted on a warrant stemming from an incident on September 5th.

On that date it is alleged that the accused threatened another male with an aluminum baseball bat, in addition to threatening to kill the victim as well as splitting the victim in half.

Mr. Greganti has been charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and will appear in court on October 25th.

Also yesterday morning 22-year-old Wesley Hallam, of 63 Foothill Road went to the station and turned himself in. Mr. Hallam failed to attend court on the 20th of September on charges of indecent act from June 11th of this year.

On that date it is alleged that Mr. Hallam urinated on a homeowner’s door. Mr. Hallam has been charged with one count of failing to attend court, in addition to his original indecent act charge. He will appear in court on October 25th to answer to both charges.


SHOPLIFTING AT WAL-MART
Shortly before noon hour yesterday city police were called to the Walmart Store on Great Northern Road for a shoplifter. It is alleged that 44-year-old Antonio Dias of 94 Panoramic Drive attempted to leave the store with water filters and water treatments.

He was apprehended by store security and turned over to the police. The total value of the items is less than $10. Mr. Dias will appear in court on November 1st. He has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000.


YOUNG CHILD ASSAULTED
Last night city police received an assault complaint involving a young child. It is alleged that the child was assaulted by a family member on the 20th of September.

The assault consisted of grabbing the child by the lower legs and throwing the child from their bed. The child received an abrasion to the left elbow area as well as bruises to the lower back.

A 26-year-old male accused has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on November 1st. The name of the accused is not being released as it may identify the victim.


VAN HITS PEDESTRIAN
Shortly after 1 pm yesterday, city police were called to the 1000 block of Great Northern Road for an accident involving a van and a pedestrian. It is alleged that the van being operated by 66-year-old Mary Yoh, of Saugatuck, Michigan, was travelling northbound on Great Northern Road.

72-year-old George Brownlee of Hilton Beach, crossed Great Northern Road and walked into the pathway of the Yoh vehicle and was struck. Mr. Brownlee was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries received in the accident. No charges have been laid in this matter.


ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES
Shortly after 10 pm last night city police had another accident with injuries.

It is alleged that a car driven by James Kozak, age 44, of Fourth Line W, was turning from Allen Side Road left onto Second Line West, when he struck an eastbound car on Second Line West being operated by 18-year-old Katherine Kubis of Raymond Street.

An eighteen-year-old passenger in the Kubis vehicle, Jessica Lafreniere, was taken to the hospital by a family member for treatment of injuries.

Neither Mr. Kozak nor Ms. Kubis required medical treatment for their injuries. Mr. Kozak has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with one count of improper left turn.
