8,825 new COVID-19 cases reported Tuesday in Ontario

Ontario's reporting 8,825 new COVID-19 cases today (Dec. 28).

Because of the Christmas holidays, the full numbers including recoveries and deaths are not being updated until Wednesday, Dec. 29.

There are 491 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 187 people are in ICU, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.

The seven-day rolling average of COVID-related patients in ICU is 171.

Elliott said there were more than 144,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered yesterday. So far, 90.7 per cent of Ontarians 12 years and older have at least one dose of the vaccine and 88 per cent have two doses.
