Sault Fire Services fight fire on Parliament Street (update, 6 photos)

Police on scene of Wednesday afternoon fire

Update
In a release issued shortly after 4:30 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services confirmed that the fire started in a clothes dryer in the utility room of the home.

The fire started shortly after 12:30 p.m. on the main floor.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, though there was extensive fire and smoke damage to the house.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a report of an active fire in the 400 block of Parliament Street shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday. 

Smoke could be seen coming from the second floor of the structure.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were also on scene.
