The defending senior high school football champions remain unbeaten through the opening two weeks of action in the local high school loop.
A week after opening the season with 32-17 win over Superior Heights, the Korah Colts used both the ground and air attack to pick up a 43-15 win over the St. Mary’s Knights Friday night to improve to 2-0 on the young season.
Michael Nicoletta paced the Colts offence with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the win while Jesse Burella also ran the ball in for a major.
Quarterback Ryan Barnes threw for three touchdowns as well for the Colts, hitting Isaac Bennet for a 58-yard touchdown as well as Caleb Plastino for a 12-yard major, and Nathan Keranen on a 12-yard touchdown pass.
In addition to touchdown runs of 64 and 31 yards, Nicoletta finished the day with 133 yards rushing on four carries.
Burella scored on a three-yard run to cap off the scoring from the Korah offence in the win.
Defensively for the Colts, Konner Ritchie, Elijah Plastino, and Caleb Plastino had interceptions.
Offensively for St. Mary’s, Daniel Bumbaco caught four passes for 99 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown on a pass from quarterback Kyle Scarfone.
Scarfone also hit Jaiden Trudeau for a six-yard touchdown pass for the Knights.
On the defensive side of the ball, Landon Trecartin had six tackles for the Knights while Nick Carter had five. Ethan Arruda chipped in with four tackles and a sack.
St. Mary’s returns to action on Oct. 1 against Superior Heights while Korah has a bye week before returning to action on Oct. 7, also against Superior Heights.
