Korah defeats St. Mary's 42-3 en route to third straight city title

The Korah Colts senior football program has been crowned city champions for the third year in a row, defeating the St. Mary’s Knights 42-3 at Superior Heights Friday night.

Colts starting quarterback Jordan Robinson-Wright threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with Colton Smithers five times for a total of 123 receiving yards.

“I thought Jordan Robinson-Wright, our quarterback, had an excellent game today - probably his best games of the year,” said Colts coach Tom Annett.

Noah Grasley paced the Colts’ rushing attack in the absence of injured Colts leading running back Bowen Oliver with 98 yards on the ground and one rushing touchdown in the city final.

“We kind of had that in our back pocket. We knew he was going to be awesome there all year,” Annett said.

Korah's defense also came away with five sacks and three interceptions in Friday's victory.

St. Mary’s, meanwhile finished the night with 139 receiving yards while posting negative yardage on the ground.

Knights coach Jim Monico told reporters that his team simply made mistakes at bad times, coming away empty handed in three trips to the red zone.

“They made plays when they had to,” said Monico. “They were just too much for us in the end.”

Annett says his senior Colts squad has been going with the mantra ‘we ain’t done yet’ since last season.

“We had some guys battling through injury today. They just competed all game,” Annett told reporters. “A lot of our guys stepped up - they were trying to take away certain things, and other guys stepped up.”

The senior Colts advance to the NOSSA championship, slated to take place Nov. 9.
