Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis today announced the addition of Sandra Findlay to the organization as the team’s new power skating instructor.
“I am very excited and happy to be returning to the Soo Greyhounds organization and the 2023-24 coaching staff. I look forward to working alongside the coaches and sharing my expertise and passion in helping develop our players. I will strive to help the players achieve their goals in skating to the best of their abilities,” expressed Findlay.
Findlay, a native of Echo Bay, Ont., re-joins the organization after first starting with them back in 1997.
She has previously worked alongside coaches Dave Cameron, Craig Hartsburg, Denny Lambert and Drew Bannister among others.
Sandra brings an impressive resume of qualifications and experience including over 35 years of power skating and figure skating coaching including with Sault Major Hockey Association and Sault Female Hockey League.
A handful of Greyhounds’ and local players that she has worked with include the late Josef Vasicek along with Jordan Smith, Jake Muzzin, Darnell Nurse, Colin Miller and recent Stanley Cup Winner Mike Amadio.
Sandra and her family are well-known for their work on the ice as her daughter Terra represented both Canada and France on various international figure skating levels while her son Brett played three seasons in the OHL (Soo/Peterborough) before a professional career that most recently sees him overseas in Slovakia.
