With high school football well underway, a pair of other sports are getting into full swing after opening up their seasons this week.
The girls high school basketball season tipped off on Wednesday at both the junior and senior levels.
Korah and St. Mary's picked up a pair of wins each on opening day.
Korah's junior team scored a tight 26-20 victory over White Pines.
Lila Jarrett had six points while Kara DeRosario five points for the Colts. Donna Holzworth of White Pines led all scorers in the game with 13 points.
Wednesday's other junior game saw St. Mary's get past Superior Heights 33-24.
Sienna Magli had 12 points while Celena Pinelli chipped in with eight for the Knights. Lilly Rumiel led Superior Heights with eight points.
In senior, Delaney Elliott had 14 points as Korah beat White Pines 37-18. Mikayla Tremblay added seven points for the Colts while Brooklyn Marzetti led White Pines with six points.
The other senior game saw Payton Magli score 16 points as St. Mary's beat Superior Heights 91-9. Abby Macknight added 14 points for the Knights. Jade Line had three points for the Steelhawks.
The boys high school volleyball season also got underway on Wednesday night on a pair of fronts.
Korah swept Notre Dame in three sets by scores of 25-12, 25-23, and 25-22.
Wednesday's other game saw Superior Heights beat St. Mary's in four sets.
St. Mary's won the opening set by a 25-20 margin before Superior Heights won the final three sets by scores of 25-17, 27-25, and 25-16.
