The Lake Superior State Lakers hockey team is still scheduled to return to action this weekend.
Who they will play has changed though.
On Wednesday, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced the cancellation of the Lakers home-and-home series against Ferris State, scheduled for this weekend.
The cancellation was announced by the league Wednesday evening after a positive COVID-19 test in the Ferris State.
The teams were scheduled to meet on Friday night at Taffy Abel Arena in the Michigan Sault before wrapped up the weekend with a game Sunday afternoon at Ferris State.
The Lakers will still play a pair of games this weekend though as the school will face the Adrian College Bulldogs in a home-and-home set instead.
The two schools will meet Friday night at Taffy Abel Arena and again Sunday afternoon at Arrington Ice Arena in Adrian, Mich.
The Lakers were scheduled to open up the week Wednesday night on the road against Northern Michigan, but that game was also cancelled due to a positive COVID-19 test within the NMU hockey program as well.
The Lakers are coming off a pair of weekend games at home against Michigan Tech.
The Lakers skated to a scoreless draw on Saturday night before beating the Huskies 4-1 on Sunday.
