Local figure skaters heading to provincials

Eight local skaters will be taking part in the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships in Mississauga beginning on March 24

A group of eight figure skaters from the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club will compete in the Skate Ontario Provincial Championship in Mississauga beginning on March 24.

The four-day event features the top skaters in the province.

Following is a release from the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club highlighting the local entries:

Eight figure skaters from the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club have secured spots at the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships. The qualifying process is vigorous and identifies the top skaters in the province.

“Our skaters have worked hard to qualify for Provincials despite the inconsistent training season that resulted due to the COVID lockdowns. Our skaters worked hard both physically and mentally to achieve this success” says LSFSC Director of Skating and Head Coach Kerry Bain.

The skaters representing LSFSC at the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships are as follows:

  • Elena Nelson - Star 5 Artistic
  • Emily Odber - Star 5 Artistic
  • Addyson Atkinson - Star 5 U13
  • Leah Johnstone - Star 7 Artistic
  • Emily Coutu - Star 6 and Star 7 O13
  • Emma Carlucci - Star 8
  • Delaney Schumacher - Star 9 and Gold Free Skate
  • Yvonne Barnes - Pre Novice and Gold Artistic

The LSFSC Board of Directors wishes these skaters good luck at the Provincial Championships.
