Sault product Jordan Hoover’s Canadian Football League career will continue in Edmonton.

A three-year veteran of the league, Hoover signed an extension with the Edmonton Football Team, formerly known as the Eskimos, on Thursday.

Hoover was a fourth round draft pick by Edmonton in the 2017 CFL drafts.

In three years with the team, Hoover has 65 tackles, 18 special teams tackles, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.

Though he spent much of the 2019 season as Edmonton’s stating safety, Hoover has also played at cornerback with the team.

Hoover started 14 games with Edmonton in 2019 and finished the year with 53 defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, one sack, two fumble recoveries, and a pair of interceptions.

The 2020 CFL season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The team is currently in the midst of a name change after deciding last summer to discontinue use of the Eskimos as the team name.
