Mikhaela Johnson will be graduating in 2021 and heading east to Dalhousie University, where she has just signed on as a new member of the varsity swim team. Johnson began her swimming career in 2015 with Sault Surge Aquatic team, a relative latecomer to the sport, but her drive and determination saw her achieving remarkable things.
In 2019, multi-talented Johnson competed at Ontario Swimming Championships in 100m and 200m backstroke as well as 100m butterfly. In the latter event, Johnson moved from 10th position after preliminaries to 7th position after finals, and went faster still swimming the butterfly leg of the 4x100m Medley relay in 1:06.22.
“I’m happy to share that I’ve signed to swim at Dalhousie University starting this fall! Thank you to my family and everyone at Sault Surge, who have become family along the way. Go Tigers!”
Johnson will bring her admirable work ethic and leadership to a strong team at Dalhousie, led by head coach Lance Cansdale. We look forward to following her progress next season!
