The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s (NOJHL) vaccination policy has been expanded.
The policy has been expanded to include fans and other attendees at NOJHL events, including games and practices.
“Those wishing to gain access to NOJHL facilities, of the 12-based teams, will be required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 and follow any other safety protocols while in the facility,” a league statement issued Monday morning said.
The policy also notes that children under 12 will be required to be accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult and follow any other safety protocols in place.
Monday’s announcement comes after the league implemented a policy last week that required all league members to be fully vaccinated in order to be part of any team and league activities.
Discussing the initial policy, Soo Thunderbirds general manager Jamie Henderson said team staff and players “have been great.”
“They understand how important it is to get vaccinated, not only to keep everyone on our club safe and healthy, but just as important for our family and friend around us,” Henderson also said. “If that allows us to get back to normal a little bit quicker and we can keep people safe and healthy, then we’re all for it.”
