For the fourth time this 2003 season, the scheduled racing events at the Kinross Speedway were washed away by mother nature this past Saturday Night.

It was a finish that Jordan Verdone of Scholars could only dream about. Verdone a standout player capped off a stellar six year career in the SMFA leading his Scholars team to a 34-6 championship victory over Brody's Sunday at Rocky Dipietro field.

The 2003 Sault Steelers recorded the first undefeated regular season in franchise history in spectacular fashion Saturday night, trouncing the Sudbury Spartans 51-7.

HAMILTON -- Despite a solid team effort, a short bench eventually worn down the Sault Sabercats. Fielding a small group of 27 players, the Sabercats hung tight for three quarters of play.

This past weekend the Soo Sports Mosquito Selects went 4-2 and captured the Consolation Championship in the Byron Optimist baseball tournament in London, Ontario.

The Sault Minor Football Association will stage a pair of games on championship Friday at Rocky DiPietro Field. The league finals in the bantam and tyke divisions will begin with the tyke final at 6 p.m.

The Sault Steelers will enjoy the comforts of home as the team secured themselves home field advantage in the playoffs until the championship game.

BRANTFORD -- The Sault Sabercats refused to surrender their season and pulled out a character building victory here at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
