Sault Ste. Marie native Julia Colizza has signed a letter-of-intent to play Division 1 U.S.A. women's hockey at Mercyhurst College next fall, SooToday.com has learned. The 17-year old Colizza will attend Mercyhurst on a full-ride hockey scholarship.

The Algoma Basketball Association plans to introduce a women's league that will begin play in early December. Officials are looking at a four-team league with games being played Fridays at 5 and 6 p.m. at the Sault College gym.
