The problem with our Canadian Health Care System is very complex. Politicians are definitely partially to blame but it is wrong to blame one party. As an example when Bob Rae was in power from 1990 to 1995 his Party reduced Medical School enrolment by 10% yearly for years. In addition he reduced the billing’s of all Physicians by another 10% or every billing period which caused many Physicians to leave the province to set up where they felt respected and needed. Kathleen Wynne reduced Residency Training by 50 positions every year o possibly save money. So now we have less Physicians with an aging population with multiple health issues. On top of these issues Canada Federally has decided to increase immigration without thinking about the needed infrastructure for example housing, and Medical Care. Please keep in mind that I am not argumentative but would like to at least clarify in part why we have a shortage of Physicians.

Interesting comments. This past Fall we turned on a heat pump with the assumption that it will be better for the environment and reduce natural gas costs. This last week we received a new estimate for our automatic billing for the next year’s electrical monthly costs! I was shocked to see that those monthly cost are going up by approximately $100.00 / month! To date our Natural Gas cost have not decreased at all! HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THIS ADDITIONAL $1200.00 / year when heat pumps are advertised as being cost efficient!

Elva was beyond a doubt my favourite patient. A very kind person. I looked forward to her coming into the office or me visiting her at her home. She will always be in my memories. Phil Catania
