How about lowering prices of the fares. They are unaffordable for a lot of travellers. This will increase ridership. Better, a full plane than half a plane with high fares.

At the very least, it is a step forward given how slowly the government can work. Let's try to support these initiatives, rather than finding ways to criticize. Typically we are apathetic, when it comes to change in general. Kudos to these brave families, who have come forward, held their ground and made change and fairly quickly given the time in which these tragedies have happened. Imagine what could happen if we all did the same. We are the government. It's up to us to continue to challenge the people we have voted in.

Way to go Nik. You are a shining star. Making prosthetics available to everyone in need at a reasonable price is a great goal. From personal experience, I know that they are incredibly expensive. Also, there are those who simply don't have the means and are confined to wheel chairs which is only one example. Nik is a wonderful example of what can be done when you have the necessary assistive devices. What a feel good story! More of those please!

There is significant financial and personal commitment to becoming a health care professional in Canada. We have a good number of them already in the country, from overseas, who are working where ever they can to provide for their family. Surely, the government can find a way to make this process happen more efficiently and without the financial burden. There would be cost savings in the long run by helping to reduce patient load and save burnout from our existing health care professionals.

As other readers have said, this letter brought tears to my eyes also. The compassion in this letter was deeply felt. We have to also understand how very difficult it is to be in health care. Nurses and Doctors also have to face violent patients at times. As a senior who has spent several times in Emergency, I can tell you I have had excellent care. These shortages of Doctors didn't happen overnight. This has been an issue for over twenty years. There are international Doctors here who are driving Ubers or taking any job they can, so they can eke out a living. Why can't they find a way to certify them much sooner? Those of you who need medical care now or have Doctors, make sure you thank them from the bottom of your heart. Let them know they are appreciated! Thank-you Dr. DellaVedova for your heartfelt letter!

Here, here. I agree 100%. So much time is wasted. When I worked in the healthcare system, we were also required to make detailed notes after each patient. Also, we communicated, with social agencies as well as Doctors and systems such as Compensation, who may or may not require further documentation or proof. I believe part of the detailed note taking was a way to protect agencies and hospital from being sued. We have become a litigious society. However, it probably is a necessary evil. Concerning note taking, I remember back in the day, Doctors in particular, used a dictaphone and their nurse or secretary transcribed the notes. I am sure there are ways that could be used nowadays to circumvent this problem!

I have to say that as one that has had to frequent the hospital in the past two years, I have nothing but total respect and admiration for what the health care professionals do. The wear and tear they have experienced, particularly, during COVID, I can't begin to imagine, and yet they show up. For me, there isn't enough pay for them. Personally, I have had many more positive experiences, than negative. The fact, they can keep going and do, is nothing short of miraculous. Be glad we are in Canada and take the time to give accolades. They can go a long way to help these people.

To the McKinley Family
I am so sorry for your loss. Everything written in the obituary was the truth and so much more. I had the honour and privilege of living across from Lynne for three years. She was such a delight. As she came to the end of her life she handled it with such dignity and grace and also, of course, her sense of humour. I learned so much from this woman. Lastly, I have to say that the love, care and compassion of her family is something I have never witnessed. It was wonderful to see. It speaks to the kind of person Lynne was. I know for sure all our memories will hold us through our lifetime.

Love Evy
