Public transit is rarely "free", but it should be affordable to those who need it, ... often the disadvantaged and poor. It should be subsidized, even at a loss. Just because "most people" don't use it doesn't make it a liability. Most people also don't use the social welfare system, but we still subsidize it. The biggest fault with our transit is the size of the buses. I doubt the huge buses are anything beyond 25% full at any time. Streamline the system with small yet more frequent buses. If your bus is full, wait for the next one, where there should be room. Although unfair, TTC runs about every 15 minutes, with much smaller capacity vehicles. I guess it is too bad the "Exit Realty" ads won't fit on the smaller buses.

Instead of deflecting the discussion with playing the "poor 12 year old" card, deal with the facts. It isn't the 12 year old kid we are talking about here. Arrest them and lock them up?, ... really?, ... war? really? Who ever said that. It is you sensationalizing the situation to support your position. Deal with reality, instead of twisting every concept to meet your needs. Taxpayers don't want to throw hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars at your band-aid solutions to perpetuate the issue. Play hard ball for the short term, and have much further to gain. I am tired of looking over my shoulder when I walk around this city.

We are all born Atheists. No one is "born" into a religion. Religion is a social construct. Its purpose ranges from forming collective cults, to giving meaning to those things not understood, to making people identifiable, to giving people an alternative to the realities of death, to finding righteousness in decisions, to justifying war and oppression, to providing ultimate forgiveness for any atrocity. Religion (at least Christianity) allows people to exercise any immoral action they wish, because in the end it was a test, ... it was God's wish. Many, many major wars have been fought with religious doctrine as its base. Very few wars where started by Atheists. They say everyone finds religion in the trenches, ... perhaps that is why Atheists are so peaceful.

You are opening a new can of worms implying that maybe women should stay at home and be domestic, if you are keeping with your "in the old days" theme. It is not taxes that keep you poor. It is the lose of the influence of organized labour to ensure good paying jobs with good benefits. It is the emergence of a new type of "slavery", ... immigration of people willing to do any job for any length of hours simply to be accepted and survive in our society. It is the emergence of a technological age where humans aren't required to be the instrument of production. it is a world where mass communication is allowed to bombard people with false information and corrupt their minds.

But the original letter writer will argue that her church in question is not a Catholic church. I think we need to include ALL churches in that category.

The self cleaning public washrooms will not wash needles and prophylactics down their drain, ... which is what these washrooms will be full of on a daily basis. I would never use one of the "public washrooms".

I am happy to be part of Spaces, and the host for the "Woodworking" Space. I have been impressed with the articulation and professionalism contained in the roll-out of the project. I am looking forward the big "arc" this will present to local social media.
