CAR-PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT It was a quiet night around the city last night but yesterday morning at 8:56 police were called to the 700 block of Pine Street to investigate a car/pedestrian collision.

CAR-PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT Police were called to a pedestrian/car accident yesterday at 4:10 p.m. near the 300 block of John Street. Police say Cathy Elkas, age 11, of Bush Street stepped out into traffic from between stopped vehicles.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED-MAN CHARGED Yesterday at 11:15 p.m., patrol officers checked a 1991 Mazda Pick-up. The vehicle had been reported stolen by the Guelph Police Service on May 6.

DRUG BUST City police patrol officers along with members of the joint forces drug unit arrested 5 people yesterday for possession of illicit drugs. This resulted during the investigation of an assault complaint at an apartment on Lake Street.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT City police were called to the intersection of Pine and Wellington Streets yesterday morning at 9:13.

City police had a quiet night last night. Two people were arrested for being intoxicated in a public place. Other than that there is nothing to report.

City police had a busy twenty-four hours receiving 115 calls. All of them, however, were of a minor nature with the exception of one motorist arrested for impaired driving. The rest of the calls were for noisy parties and other minor infractions.

NOISY PARTIES City police were kept busy last night answering complaints of loud parties and domestic disturbances. There was, however, only one arrest for intoxication. There were no major incidents to report. GRANT ARRIVES FOR R.I.D.E.

THREE BREAK AND ENTERS Last night police were kept busy with numerous loud parties and intoxicated person calls. Three break and enters were reported. The first was to a residence in the 100 block of Johnson Avenue.

POLICE OFFICER SUSPENDED On May 2, 2002, Constable Douglas O. Witty was suspended from active duty without pay as a result of a sexual assault conviction. He faces additional charges under the Criminal Code and The Police Services Act.
