Having just returned from a week in Quebec City, I have a few observations about the wine scene in la belle province .

Here we are, at the end of summer – well, it is after Labour Day – and I find myself speculating once again, on what the LCBO is laying out for us in the next week or so.

With the next Vintages release of August 31 focusing on highly-rated wines, it might be worthwhile to reflect on some of the different scoring methods and the people doing the scoring.

Don’t think Florida or Georgia or Alabama. Think Calabria, Puglia, Campagna and Sicily. We are seeing more and more wines these days from the south of Italy.

Every once in a while, Vintages undergoes a “de-listing”. This Monday, items from the July 22 undertaking were put out for sale at about 25% off at our Great Northern Road store.

When people talk about summer wines, I’m sure that the picture they have in their minds involves being outside on a bright, warm summer day.

Next weekend, the Niagara region will be hosting the Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration from July 19 through the 21st. This is an international event, with 62 wineries from many parts of the world participating.
