On Feb. 7 at approximately 2:50 p.m. a member of the Ontario Provincial Police Sault Ste. Marie detachment stopped a vehicle on Highway 17, Laird Township.

On Feb. 6, 2002 a wheelchair was found in the Harmony Beach area north of Sault Ste. Marie. The wheelchair is believed to have fallen from a moving vehicle. For further information contact the Ontario Provincial Police detachment at 945-6833.

On Feb. 4 at approximately 8:45 p.m. the Sault OPP responded to an assault complaint in the Heyden area approximately 10 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie.

On February 4, 2002 at approx. 8:45 p.m. the Sault OPP responded to an assault complaint in the Heyden area approx. 10 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie.

Over the weekend Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. investigated several weather related motor vehicle accidents, the majority of which occurred in the Detachment's east zone. The vehicles involved sustained various degrees of damage.

Another winter storm is upon us and fortunately there were no motor vehicle collisions reported overnight. Motorists are reminded to listen to local weather forecasts and road conditions prior to travelling the roadways.

The Sault Ste. Marie OPP, City Police Services and S.T.O.P. officers have been out partolling the area. Officers report that things have been very quiet with the poor winter conidtions we are experiencing this year.

On January 26, 2002 at approximately 8:30 p.m. the Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a reported assault at a private residence in Shetland Park north of the city.

On January 27, 2002 the Sault OPP received a report of an assault between two ice fishermen on Weckstrom Lake northwest of Searchmont. There were no injuries reported and the investigation is on going.

THE CLEAN UP CONTINUES Mekatina, Ont., The clean up of a train derailment north of Sault Ste Marie continued throughtout the night last night.
