"Ferrari and his associated companies had big dreams..." of misleading northern communities into thinking he was going to develop these properties. The real plan was more likely to neglect the properties by doing nothing and let mother nature, copper thieves and vagrants chew away at them. Eventually this strategy of deliberate urban blight can force a buyout (by local governments) for more than the abandoned properties are worth. How much back taxes are currently owed on these dead dinosaurs?

That is how they raise money for the needy DP. It is the first place I think of to take my unwanted stuff as they are very appreciative. Their prices are low for used items and building materials. And sometimes you can score an authentic antique for next to nothing.

It could have made a good subject vessel for sport divers. Strip it of all toxins, etc, and sink it off the coast of Gros Cap, in Canadian waters, out of the shipping lane, between the lighthouse station and the parking lot. With Gros Cap Harbour nearby, divers would have a place to launch from. But instead, here we are, paying somebody to take out our garbage. Win/win for Purvis Marine.

Electric pickup truck? Don't be so quick to scoff

I support the long term goal but warn current buyers to recognize the early stage we are at and the many shortcomings that will ensue along the way. Gov'ts must compel EV makers to build by uniform standards so that the successful technologies are adapted universally i.e. easily removable generic batteries that fit a variety of vehicle styles. Ford F-150 Lightning EV pickup sales plummeted in Oct/23 by 46%. They are learning that the broader market appeal of a commuter style 2-4 seater SUV model will be a better starting point than full size work horse pickups. Our purchases will tell the EV makers what they should be building. Don't be fooled.

EV technology today is young and immature. This is the Ford Model "A" stage. EVs have a very long way to go before they can be declared a solution to carbon based transportation. The automakers should be required to produce small, efficient vehicles capable of moving 2-4 passengers using standard sized replacable batteries. Automakers, collectively, need to focus on an early stage, large scale, lower cost per unit, commuter solution. This approach will benefit more drivers and contribute to a reduction of vehicular congestion in large centers. The F-150 Lightning EV pickup is too much too soon. The pickup crowd, including me, need more distance and reliability than a goofy plug-in truck can deliver.
