The Scotiabank U-11 Boys Civics went undefeated on the weekend and captured the Lake Superior Cup on home soil by defeating the Sudbury Rebels 2-0. Both goals were scored by Brandon Grandinetti.

Playing on their own home fields was beneficial for the Sal-Dan Strikers U-13 boys Civics as they went undefeated in this year's Superior Cup Soccer Tournament. Teams from Timmins and Marquette traveled to the Sault to participate in this division.

The Central Algoma Secondary School Track & Field team participated in the NOSSA championships in North Bay, May 31 & June 1. CASS will be sending three athletes to the OFSAA Championships in Ottawa June 7,8 & 9.

After a lackluster opening two games, the Ottawa Senators are back in the swing of things. The Senators defeated the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 on Saturday night in Ottawa to win game three of the Stanley Cup finals.

The Sault Sabercats dropped a 47-26 decision to the Niagara Spears. The Sabercats fell behind 17-0 to the 1-0 Spears after one quarter. The locals currently trail 24-7 heading into the half.

The Seamless Eavestrough Thunder went on their first road trip of the season last weekend and came home with a victory and a loss.

May 31, 2007, Desbarats -- Central Algoma Secondary School has won a National Award in recognition for their Quality Physical Education program.

Sports Gold Mosquito Selects opened their season in the peewee division in winning fashion. The first game they played Tuesday against Maitland Motors winning 10 - 0. Coty Anderson struck out 8 in 3 innings.
